The trick with this classic fashion gift is the label. If you’re going to make a big statement, don’t be cheap. The name of the maker speaks volumes, so think about Cartier, Fred, Boucheron, Chanel or Tourneau to study the best. We’ve found some that fit the bill, such as two versions of the elegant Cartier Tank at Saks, one with a stainless steel strap, the other with an alligator strap. They’re $3,800 and $2,100 respectively. Tourneau is the world’s largest watch store, and they specialize in high quality merchandise, like a Baume and Mercier steel and diamond ladies watch for $4,495 or a Longines classic steel for $950. They have a broad selection of women’s watches, and even some that are pre-owned (don’t think that means they’re cheaper).
