Never Underestimate the Power of a Princess
The new Disney movie Enchanted opens Nov. 21. In the film, a fairy-tale prince and princess find themselves in modern-day New York City, pursued by an evil queen. Because all the little girls who see the movie will no doubt want to transform into Princess Giselle, Disneystore.com has lost no time in creating products designed to thrill their smallest fans. A Giselle Enchanted Sleep Gown, complete with three layers of organza and satin skirts, and a panne bodice, can be hers for $34.50. Add to this a rhinestone tiara ($16.50) and an Enchanted pink velour robe ($39.50), and your kiddo is set to dream of her own kingdom. If your little one is a boy, Disneystore.com has interactive remote-controlled dueling pirate ships, based on the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End movie. The ships have lights and sound and cost $49.50. For adults (we think), there is an ornate and large (10” tall) Pirates of the Caribbean snowglobe. It has a secret drawer, swirls with black glitter and plays “Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Me!’ It’s a good thing it does all that, because after paying $99.50 for it, you might feel like Captain Jack Sparrow just took all your gold.
Winter Wear for Wee Ones
There’s very little that is more fun than dressing a baby, toddler or child in something cute. And now that it’s getting colder, the opportunity to buy something warm for your little one is here. There are thousands of kids’ clothing stores online, but here are a few that offer merry winter outfits for baby. Hannah Andersson has been selling great kids winter clothes with a Swedish influence for years. Take their “Winter in The Woods Baby Romper” (shown here). It’s a warm romper made by Peruvian artisans and costs $58. Pay a little more for the red pilot cap, the mouse-sized mittens and Swedish moccasins. La Queue du Chat is a French shop for children’s clothing that has a whole line for winter 2007, but unless you live in Seattle (their only American store is there) you can select an item and order it from them via phone or email. Bebeo has winter collections from lots of top-name designers for baby and kid clothes. Les Culottes Courtes, a blog dedicated to children’s wear, is a wealth of information for shoppers.
When is a Playpen Not a Playpen?
When it’s a bassinet, a changing station and then a living-room worthy playpen. Every year American Baby Magazine’s readers vote on their favorite baby products. Thousands of moms have their say, and although some of the winners are gold standards like Desitin, pacifiers and bottles, this Graco Pack ‘n Play “Playard” is light years from the old-fashioned travel crib. Start baby out in the full-size bassinet with a quilted bumper pad, and change diapers on a built-in changing table (with a nearby supply organizer). Distract the wee one with a mobile, or turn on the electronics: 2-speed vibration, 5 classical songs or 5 soothing nature sounds, night light and timer. Once baby’s too big for the bassinet, turn it into a rolling, push-button folding playpen (your little one should be less than 35” tall for that use). It retails for about $120 at Walmart, Sears and Target.
Two Moms Create Cool T’s for Tots

What started out as an idea to make summer T-shirts for their children evolved into a business plan in less than two weeks. Less than a year later, Slick Sugar, a children’s clothing line started by Michelle Hanson and Dana Steele, has been featured in Parents magazine’s November issue, been chosen to have an agent show their clothing line to wholesale buyers in the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles and received orders from almost every state in the nation.

Flashy Style for a Change

There was a time when the lowly diaper bag was, well, lowly — a fashion albatross around your neck. But baby, those days are long gone. OiOi Diaper Bags are to traditional bags as a BMW is to a Yugo. The OiOi Messenger Diaper Bag has cool features like a magnetic snap closure for the parent with no free hands, two exterior insulated side pockets, three inside pockets for diapers, wipes, PSPs and iPods — and the requisite wipeable change mat. There’s also a removable insulated bottle holder, a utility zipper top bag and an inside clip for keys. Queue up now, this bag ($110) begins shipping on June 1st at Rosenberry Rooms. See more baby items on Shopperati’s new Tot Wear and Decor page.
