A Tale of the Tape

Cool Tools finds a lot of really helpful stuff. I wish I’d found the item on this nifty laser “measuring tape” sooner. Mike Green tells how essential this tool was while he was engaged in remodeling of his home last year. It’s true you often need two people when measuring with a traditional tape. I recently was measuring a long distance with my wife’s assistance and when finished she released her end of the metal tape, assuming I had control of it. I didn’t. The tape flew back through my hands, so viciously gashing my thumb that I yelped an inappropriate phrase within earshot of my neighbors. Mike knew that professional laser tapes work great but didn’t want to drop $400 or more for one. He found Stanley’s FatMax Tru-Laser Distance Measurer ($100) to be accurate within 1/4 inch. Works for me.
