Make Great Pictures a Snap
Blogged under Digital Cameras, Electronics and Computers by Jason on Friday 7 April 2006

With wedding and graduation season fast approaching, this is an excellent time to think about digital cameras — either as a gift or just for you to get that critical shot. Dell Electronics & Accessories is offering 20 percent off select models from Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus and Kodak through April 11 (6 am CT). Check the Dell site for the model that best suits you, but we like the Sony DSC-T9 Cyber-shot for its sleek styling and high performance. At 6 megapixels and with an exacting Carl Zeiss lens, this is not one of those toy “almost-cameras.” The camera has Real Imaging Processor Technology that is said to improve picture quality and clarity, plus a host of other features such as image stabilization that should make anyone seem like a better photographer. At checkout, use the code: $V7CQWF82D0518.

Dinner Light That Won’t Blow Out
Blogged under Lists by Barbara Kessler on Thursday 6 April 2006

This one is just too cool. It looks like a mini UFO. But it comes in peace — to light your outdoor dinner. Sure, candles are nice. But this battery-operated LED light is reliable and just, well, different. It attaches to the umbrella pole. We just had to show it to you as we build our fantasy backyard. From Frontgate ($69).

Rug Style, Cool Feet
Blogged under Outdoor Furniture by Barbara Kessler on Thursday 6 April 2006

We’ve been scouring the web for outdoor patio rugs as we count down the days until we can lounge outside with our cabernet and pasta. We like the one pictured here by Dimensions available from Porches & Yards, because its not the same ole’ beach or colonial styling. It is stain and UV resistant; made of 100 percent Olefin (which means you can put it out in the sun) and available in cranberry, loden, beige and blue in a range of sizes ($26-$442). Other suggested sites for outdoor rugs: Plow & Hearth and Grandin Road.

Satsuma Body Butter from The Body Shop

If you’ve never tried these, get ready for a silky treat that’s great for smoothing legs and arms, and capable for heavy-duty spring conditioning of knees, elbows and heels. The scents are terrific, of course, as we expect from The Body Shop. Only downside: With the fruity scents you might attract bees!
Body Butter & Body Scrubs: 2 for $26
