Vera Wang Elegant trimmings for the T’day finales
Keep your fork, there’s pie. It’s one of the most magical sentences in the English language. Even if we can’t imagine another bite, when we’re full to here of turkey and dressing and potatoes and all the side dishes the relatives brought, Keep your fork, there’s pie somehow fortifies us, sending us happily into battle once again.
Surely such a cherished dish deserves a dish of its own, a pie plate you pull out each year just because it’s time to make something special. We’re nominating Williams-Sonoma’s Emile Henry artisan ruffled pie dish, because it just looks like it would infuse whatever we made in it with otherworldly flavor ($44, above). Sur La Table also carries Emile Henry pie plates, in a bunch of pretty colors and in sizes ranging from 5” to 12″ ($17-45).
Lest you think we’ve forgotten the basics, we’re here for you. Amazon offers Mrs. Anderson’s 10″ pie crust shield ($4) and ceramic pie weights ($5), just to make sure that crust is done to flaky perfection. Williams-Sonoma will help you crack those pecans ($35) and slice those apples ($20). Cookware.com is prepared with its Rosie stainless steel pie server ($16). And Horchow will give your pie the display it deserves, either with a sparkling crystal pie dome ($85) or its exquisite glass covered pie plate with aluminum accents ($300). We know the proof is in the pudding, but in this case, we’re betting on the dish.
