A pat on top shopping bloggers’ backs
Blogged under Bloggerati by Diane Porter on Wednesday 1 October 2008

Each week, let us call your attention to some of our favorite, fun, entertaining and amazing shopping blogs. They elevate shopping to an art. Or an obsession.

1. Ambika B. of (Into) The Fray shops thrift stores, eBay and designer shops, takes pictures of herself trying on clothes in Anthropologie dressing rooms, and regularly dishes about the boyfriend. September, her blog’s second anniversary, found her rhapsodizing about art, dolman sleeves, crescent necklaces (left), water bottles, Ecoist bags and wildly cool coasters.

2. Slave to Target is a hilarous romp through the aisles of your favorite discount mega-retailer, with a witty person by your side. Blogger Jill waxes poetic about a paprika-colored handbag for $25 (especially wonderful after she compared it to pricey satchels at Bluefly.com).

3. Tara at She Finds must have watched the Emmy Awards, because she’s been trolling through a pretty selection of crystal drop earrings (right). Browse Swarovski at $12 to Calypso for $90, and practice that saucy head turn that makes them twinkle in the light.

4. Susie Bubble, how do you do it? The woman behind Style Bubble (that’s her, left) literally follows fashion around the world: reports from runway shows, pictures of her wardrobe of the day . . . If you’ve got a voyeuristic bent, you’ll like the wild creations from Cooperative Designs as well as the Fendi backstage pics.

5. The tagline for All That And A reads, “A place of temporary obsessions and all the things you never knew you wanted.” We approve of that message. Case in point: The Design for Mankind Inspiration poster ($15), reminding us that good things come to those who wait - for the delivery truck, we mean.

6. On the salad bar at Fashion Salad, load up with items on designers, indie fashion, celebs, steals & deals, fashion bites and product reviews. The blog, all tricked out with Lettuce Reviews and Wilted Greens archives, flounces around between Jenny Yuen Sherlock designer bags ($550), supermodel ads in magazines, jumpsuits and green chic.

7. Black and White Delight is a blog with a focus, a mantra, a goal for world peace in black and white. Lunch will be served on a set of Kate Spade dinnerware ($17-$26), perhaps resting on Marimekko placemats ($16). And the guests? Why, they’re in DKNY, of course (poplin dress, $245) .
