Dutch Tub, Hot Fun

Leave it to the Dutch to come up with this one: A portable, sleek, fun hot tub that looks like a giant tea cup. Take the Dutch Tub to a party, a camp out or install it on your patio. It is heated by an attached wood burner and goes anywhere! Maybe it’s not on the top of your must-have list. But aren’t you glad you know about it? Available in several European countries (yes, Scandanavia’s all over this) and in the U.S. Thank you Cool Hunter for finding this and other marvels of modern design.
Bells and Whispers (Pillows)

Combine two outdoor delights, a trellis with a chime effect, or in this case, a tinkling from bells. This idea comes from some of our green friends (no, not Martians) at Acacia, where sustainability was the watchword before it became hip. Comes in two sizes, a short and tall. Another unique idea from Acacia, the Save My Face pillow, to quell wrinkles and puffiness from pressing your face into the big pillow at night. hmmmm…could work.
Art, It’s for the Birds

When we were laying sod and trying to create a yard from scratch, a bird bath seemed like a frivolous addition. But after the grass and a few trees were planted, our feathered friends started hanging around and it seemed rude not to offer a little hospitality. They needed feeders and a place to bathe and play; now the bird bath seems more like a necessity. Our tip for a website to start your bird supply search: Yardiac. This garden and outdoor store offers a good selection of both feeders, like this decor-minded Mission-style feeder, and some of the most elegant bird baths we’ve seen, such as this sculptural Dynasty bird bath.
Send Relief, Please….

Maybe it’s the dog days of August, the blazing concrete or the ignoble end of summer, but it seems like a good time for treating our aches and pains. Begin with SheFinds, a Shopperati site that has devoted its latest grab bag of featured goods for ouchies. There we found this ZIPS foot soak, with sea salt, camphor and kelp, which seems just right for a young sports fan we know. Also on SheFinds, which actually caters to young, urban women, are tips for easing that nasty monthly pain, reducing the pinching of undergarments and coping with fashion barriers like blisters from Manolos. How’s that for a compendium of girl trouble? (Most of this stuff is at Drugstore.com).
To the Moon and the Sea!

Here’s a decor idea to launch a room for your astronomically obsessed child (and we mean that in the kindest way), an astronaut light. Perfect to view against one of those twinkly constellation pictorial ceilings. And for this child’s aspiring marine biologist sister: a whimsical “splashy dolphin” light. Both were surprise (affordable) finds at Lamps Plus, which carries lights for all ages of kids. Grown-up children might appreciate the fun pool table lights, which we’re out of room to show you here.
Tea Time Y’all

Looking for home accents and functional art that looks cool in your kitchen? One of our new Shopperati sites, Just Luxe, has already found many of those “just right” items. Through them we found AKA Dwelling, which imports a lot of neat stuff for the kitchen. AKA sells this modern “Luna teapot” that’s so clean and fresh looking; not your grandmother’s teapot (although if you had your grandmother’s teapot it might be a cool collectible…but that’s a different discussion). This clear glass model has an included infuser, so you can watch your tea in action, and it can be washed in the dishwasher. For die-hard ice tea drinkers, AKA offers Assam double wall glass tumblers that require no coasters. Great for guests! AKA is based here in good ol’ Texas; the goods come from Germany and Switzerland. Best of all worlds.
