Number 10: Anything by Chanel
This is a gift that separates the men from the boys. The payoff, however, could be tears of joy and screams of glee.
You can’t buy Chanel clothing or bags on the Chanel website (although it is very pretty
and flashy and tells you loads about their company). At Neiman-Marcus’ and Saks Fifth Avenue’s websites, they only offer Chanel makeup and skin care products. A lot of people buy Chanel items online, but you run the risk of getting a knock-off, and those are plentiful. There’s a very detailed page on Ebay that gives you everything you need to know about fake Chanels, but it’s probably more than you planned to absorb. There are more than 3,900 “Chanel” items for sale on Ebay right now, but buyer beware.
So, you are going to have to go to a Chanel boutique or brick-and-mortar retailer (Neiman-Marcus or Saks) that sells Chanel goods. You can look for reputable designer vintage websites to find the goods, and the beauty part about Chanel clothes and bags is that they don’t lose much value, even when used. So they won’t be cheap, but they will be classic and that’s what you’re going for.
