Retailers are turning toward fall, which means good news for smart shoppers: Sales abound! Now’s the time to stock up on summer faves and items that can transition into fall/winter.

So, while it’s not quite time to pack away the bathing suit or retire your flip-flops (after all, there’s still August), it is time to scoop up bargains for the remainder of the summer and, more importantly, next summer.

Shopperati scoured the Web to find the best end-of-summer sales for fashion and home goods.

OldNavy.com’s Stock Up and Save sale runs through Thursday.  Save boatloads on nearly every type of basic for women, men and children including  Ts, shorts, tanks, sleepwear and underwear. For gals, the pieced-striped hoodies ($20)  would score points at a fall football game and work as a beach cover-up.  For men, the Ringer Tees ($6) pair just as easily with a blazer and jeans for cooler temps as they do with shorts at the lake.

It’s a shoe-lover’s dream come true at NineWest.com. Take 20 percent off your entire purchase of two or more pairs of sale footwear.  The sale selection features several pairs of shoes that are right on-trend for fall.  The Sulliban shoes  (featured on The View and in March’s Teen Vogue, pictured at right) spin the gladiator trend forward into a stiletto ($60).  The Hotpic heels would look great with a flirty summer skirt, but also pair nicely with fall’s skinny jeans and cropped jackets. Buy them both for $72 plus shipping.

Top designer brands like Manolo Blahnik, Tracy Reese and 3.1 by Phillip Lim are on sale at NeimanMarcus.com. Plus, receive an extra 20 percent off the sale prices.  A Stella McCartney shiny canvas pack bag is a relative bargain at $716.  The Juicy Couture nautical charm necklace features seven charms ranging from an anchor to a dog house to a crest.  Take it home for $89 (originally $158).  The Theory belted bubble dress in neon pink works for a summer cocktail party or fall’s homecoming dance ($143), while you can’t go wrong with the super high waist, wide-leg jean from Rich & Skinny ($155).

At online-only retailer ShopBop.com, you can select from sale merchandise at 30 percent, 50 percent and 70 percent off.  In the 30 percent off category, Velvet’s Larista dress gets our vote for best transitional piece ($122). Add a pair of black tights, a cropped leather blazer and shoe boots for a  kickin’ fall/winter ensemble.  A Diane von Furstenberg classic wrap dress in the 50 percent off category? Indeed. The Pelego tie-dye wrap dress (pictured) has staying power (has tie-dye ever really gone out of style?) and at $200 is a designer steal.  Pickings get a little slimmer in the 70 percent off section, but we bet the Kors by Michael Kors lasso suede ankle strap sandal is a good investment ($89).

Banana Republic’s sale is online and in-store through Thursday.  You can save up to 30 percent off select pants, denim and more.  Khaki pants are a year-round staple for any wardrobe, so BR’s Martin cuffed wide-leg chino pant is a good addition to any closet ($55).  The same goes for guys — try the relaxed cargo chino in graham cracker, which would look good with summer sandals or winter boots ($42).
