Hey, Can We Be Practical? Boo-yeah!

Every Halloween we invest too much in some crazy costume that gets worn for one night and then put in deep storage until it basically decomposes. Yeck. This year we found a great costume that’s both hot and has legs. That’s right, apres Halloween all you have to do is declare the entire family Tampa Bay Bucs fans and you’ll get weeks and weeks worth of bonus value. If that seems too much, the Extreme Halloween Network does have other options:
Top Halloween Costumes for 2006
And Loving It!

Yes, “99,” the arrival — finally — of “Get Smart” on DVD looks to be one of the big DVD events this holiday shopping season. The set has all the makings of a hot item: a much beloved TV classic that starred Don Adams, meticulous restoration with 10 hours of bonus features, and … it will be hard to get. Get Smart: The Complete Collection will only be available from Timelife.com for the first year beginning Nov. 15. The set includes all five seasons of the seven-time EMMY® Award-winning ’60s comedy series — that’s 138 episodes on 25 DVDs. Suggest you order soon or risk later realizing you “missed it by that much!”
Deliver Something Special

Before the upcoming holiday season gets here and you struggle with finding the right card design, let’s talk about how to really make a statement. With PhotoStamps from Stamps.com, you take your own photographs and turn them into actual, legal U.S. postage. How cool is that? The proceess is fairly simple, particulalrly if you’re familiar with basic digital photography and how to crop an image. The stamps come in seven postage denominations ranging from 24 cents for postcards to 39 cent regular first class to $4.05 for packages.

Anything that looks like real work sends me looking for professionals who can spare me the pain of a DIY gone horribly awry. But if you’re into the deep down skinny on constructing walls and such, Cool Tools has this interesting book for you.

Comfy “Travelers” Clothes by Chicos

Love having black pants that go with everything? Then you’ll probably fall into deep like with these cropped pants from Chicos that go with everything. They’re from the Chicos “Travelers” line of clothing that doesn’t wrinkle (or shed!) and is designed to transition from day to evening with ease. Wear them with heels, sandals, even flat dress shoes. We tried on a pair and couldn’t put them back. They’re comfy, but not crusty. Found a cool top to go with them too like the urban graffiti-inspired t-shirt above.
Zappos Zaps Us with a Sale!
Zappos, the Amazon of web shoe sales, has always got a little something going salewise. We’re watching sandals like these Born Barbe’s that are 20 percent off at the moment. It’s not the best deal ever. However, when we were looking for Born’s at our local department store, they had only a fraction of what Zappos is showing. We imagine that only the factory has more styles than Zappos. We also like Zappos’ huge variety of athletic shoes, including vegetarian shoes, and the fact that we can shop for women’s shoes by heel height.
Lovely, Languid, Liquid Legs

Under the “what will they think of next” category here’s the newest, wackiest,
potentially useful little item we found today: Air Stockings. You don’t pull them on
and they don’t run — or so we’re told. Instead, spray them on. Like a tan mist,
but not necessarily aiming for tan. The idea is to mute or cover spider veins and
imperfections on your legs, much like pantyhose would, but without the
wrinkles, runs and discomfort of pantyhose. Does it rub off when you dance? We
don’t know, it’s news to us. But you can try it at a new store on our list Derma
Doctor, which also stocks a long list of spa-quality creams and blemish aides.
Tea Tree Benefits

Tea Tree oil keeps expanding its presence in beauty care. The Body Shop offers an extensive line of Tea Tree skin products, a wash, a scrub, a moisturizing gel and a mask. Something must be worth working here. We’ve seen how Tea Tree oil can heal an injury, we’ve used it many times for cuts and insect bites. It makes sense that the same extract would sooth and smoothe your skin. So we’ll be trying the Tea Tree face wash and see what it does for a teen we know. Meanwhile, it’s good to know that these products help support the aboriginal tribe that harvests the oil.
