It’s as simple as black and white: Some women just don’t do color.
They may be chic, but their wardrobes are dominated by
neutral shades and an overabundance of gray, navy and black.
In a season rife with bright color, graphic florals and global influences, those fashionistas might be tempted to sit out the shopping. If the offerings on the runway at Dallas’ recent Fashion at the Park shows are any indicator, they won’t have to.
Designers are showing combinations of black and white in choices ranging from dressy to edgy. There are graphic options for those willing to stray outside their box, as well as solids for the more conservative. Accessories ground the looks, and sometimes it was head-to-toe black and white, from white sunglasses to big black purses. Dont’ worry: You could still find a shot of bold color in the occasional clutch.

Nautical fashion is all about fun.
Sailor details, stripes and the liberal use of red, white and navy: Nautical style is preppy with a jaunty twist. This spring, designers were clearly inspired by the sea, but you don’t have to be a member of a yacht club to enjoy some of the
witty maritime-inspired clothing.
Cultivating a sailor chic look needn’t entail a major investment – chances are you already have some pieces in your closet to help you jump-start your own seafaring style.
White is essential, so start with a white pair of pants, skirt or dress. Next, look around for a red or navy sweater to casually drape over your shoulders. Finish the look with a big red purse, a pair of spectator pumps and some fabulous sunglasses and you are ready to set sail – or at least look like it.
If you live your life in jeans, consider a navy- and white-striped French sailor top, accessorized with a bright red scarf and wedge sandals. You can be flamboyant with a classic navy blazer worn over a white T-shirt and pair of shorts, high heels, and an over-sized red clutch.
