Already having a panic attack looking at your Thanksgiving to-do list? Scratch one thing off by wearing a dress that not only makes you look fabulous, but will last through the kitchen war zone. This way, you can go straight from cooking (or unwrapping store-bought pies) and arrive perfectly put together at the dining room table.

The warm rose hues and rich creams made Obama appear calm, classy and inviting - just like you want to appear this Thanksgiving. Getting your hands on one may be a little tough, though. Forget about buying it online. If you can, hit one of the specialty stores around the country that sell Thakoon’s line. You can find the list on his Web site (click on Stockists).

You also can’t go wrong with this leopard print Ralph Lauren shift from his fall 2008 line, above left. The loose shape makes it easy to move around the kitchen, and it is perfect for hiding that bit of an after-Thanksgiving dinner bulge. Pair it with a black turtleneck, cover it with a cardigan or wear it solo.

BCBG’s slate pink dress (above, right) is light, breezy, and comfortable. This number will last through kitchen fiascos, dining room discussions and all the way to the couch for that requisite afternoon nap. The jersey material is perfect for the no-frills woman who still wants to put her best fashion foot forward.
