Start Your Must-Have List for the Perfect Summer Vacation
This one is lightweight, with a waterproof backing and storage bag for easy toting.
And if you really want to earn points from persnickety family members, consider investing in the new release of Photoshop Elements, a consumer grade image editor ($100 for PC and $90 for the Mac version). With a click of the mouse, you’ll be able to take the shine off of Uncle Bob’s bald head, or camouflage a distracting background in the ever-important group portrait.
Hit the Beach
No summer would be complete without a trip to the beach. But even beach bunnies
need to stay in touch with the outside world. Put on a pair of Oakley Razrwire Sunglasses (pictured) – classic shades that come with Motorola wireless Bluetooth technology attached ($125), so you can stroll the beach without missing an important call or having to wear a headset.
We love another newfangled way to enjoy surfside activities – the water hammock from Tiki Water Sports. It’s something like a trampoline that provides resistance training when you jog in place, but also a cushy place for lounging (up to four adults) when it’s time to break out the margaritas. And if you must at some point turn it over to the kids, up to a half dozen of them can use the water hammock as a way-cool platform for belly-flops ($699).
After too much fun in the sun, having a place for everyone to escape it will make the day happier for everyone. If your beach bunch is on the younger side, you’ll want to check out Target for the Under the Sea Beach Cabana, which is big enough to shade and shelter a trio of toddlers ($29.99). Need something bigger? Target also offers an 8-foot shelter ($49.99) that sets up easily and protects the whole family.
One item that anyone going to the beach or engaging in water sports really needs is a waterproof wallet for stashing valuables such as keys, money, etc.
